It’s In His Smile by Shelly Alexander

I was gifted this book for an honest review.

This book starts off with a wonderful character called Miranda who lives in Red River. She’s coming to terms with the loss of her friend Bea and we first meet her when she’s arranging the wake.
Enter Talmadge. He and Miranda have met before, a one night stand and Miranda’s first sexual encounter seven years ago has left Talmadge in the forefront of her mind since then.
The hot grandson of Bea who is just in town to say goodbye to his grandmother, but circumstances keep him hanging around for longer than he intends. He’s a green architect, providing sustainable buildings that are kind to the environment. He’s in the middle of a huge deal back in Seattle, but the loveable Miranda has that pull that he just can’t ignore.
Bea left Miranda the old and decrepit inn, and she’s struggling to spruce the place up on her waitress salary, so the kind and wonderful Talmadge steps in to lend a hand. Miranda is keen to make a name for herself, she wants to be successful in running the inn and standing on her own two feet.
There is a sticky moment involving Talmadge and the conditions of Bea’s will, there are great secondary characters, especially Francine, Clydelle and the ‘Mommy Mafia’ and not to mention that the writing of this fantastic novel is flawless.
I’m so glad I said yes to this gem of a story.

Favourite quotes:

“Jamie stared at Talmadge, the admiration in her little brother’s eyes about as subtle as a s neon sign in the middle of a power blackout.”

“Francine lifted her purse. “Watch it, sister. This purse is a lethal weapon, and I’m not responsible for my actions when my blood sugar drops. I haven’t had lunch yet.”

“When are you gonna find a man? You’re too pretty to sit around this town growing old alone. What’s wrong with you? You got a third nipple or something?”

A truly fantastic read that I enjoyed from the very first page right until the very end. It had everything I look for in a great contemporary romance novel. A little suspence, steamy scenes, great characters who I feel fully invested in and a sexy hero.
I loved it!!
